Angry Birds launches onto a Droid near you!

Anybody that has an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad should have played the mobile phenomenon, Angry Birds, by now. The game has quickly become one of the most popular titles in the Apple app store, but has so far evaded the popular, up and coming Android platform.

Not only is the game available now for Droid, but the full-version of the game is 100% free! That's right, the much-anticipated title will cost you nothing to grab the full-version. The only catch is that there is a little in-game advertising, but it really isn't that noticeable. If it really bothers you that much, Rovio Mobile has announced that a paid version will be available somewhere down the road that will be completely ad-free. We're expecting that to cost around $3, like it does on the Apple platform.

The challenge with programming for the Droid platform is that, unlike the uniformed Apple platform, each phone is manufactured by a different company, therefore, each phone handles apps differently. Unfortunately, phones, like the Wildfire, that use QVGA displays cannot run the game, but we can report that the app runs flawlessly on newer phones like the Droid Incredible.

The app is available on GetJar as of today. GetJar's official Twitter page actually reported "90k downloads in seconds" and that the demand for the game actually crashed their servers. As of this time, GetJar is back up and running.

Stay tuned for our official review of Angry Birds and happy pig smashing!
