TVD Music Saturday Returns!

Music Saturday is back! As in the past, every Saturday you'll find a new track of music to enjoy of the videogame related variety. What you find hear is music that might not necessarily be music directly from a videogame, but be inspired by it at the very least.

This time comes a track by Doctor P titled Tetris. Once you hear a mere few seconds of this it you'll have no doubts as to why this is very much one of the best Tetris inspired dubstep remixes you'll ever hear.

TVD Music Saturday: ToeJam & Earl 'James Brown in Space'

Remember ToeJam & Earl? Remember how great that game was? Well, looking back on it now the game wasn't that great, but the style was most definitely off the charts for the time. Where else were and still are you going to get the funk? If there's anything missing from today's gaming landscape it has to be the absence of "The Funk". Unfortunately the times have passed by ToeJam & Earl much in the same way the times have long forgotten the brash humor of something like Duke Nukem (albeit the eventual arrival of Duke Nukem Forever so says Gearbox Software). The third game on the original Xbox was a novel idea that just didn't quite have a place in today's 3D geometry dominated world versus the pop out and punch you in the face 3D "dilemma". Nevertheless, if ToeJam & Earl is remembered for anything rather it be through Virtual Console or by other means, lets not forget where the funk is at when it comes to videogames.

And for good measure, the 'James Brown in Space' OC Remix played in Audiosurf, after the break.

TVD Music Saturday: Electrixx - 'Tetris'

Any gamer can and should have many a story when it comes to Tetris. Rather it be from the old school original Gameboy or the throwaway phone you might have in your pocket Tetris has had as big of a splash in the videogame world as any, but what tends to stick with most of us is its music. That's when the Electrixx remix of the Tetris theme comes in. Assuming you haven't heard this before prepare to have your mind blown. Tetris is a rather simple game, but the remix Electrixx came up with is just plan insanity for your ears. If you've got a good pair of headphones this would be a good time to employ those bad boys.

TVD Music Saturday: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 'Above the Sky'

"Can I get a chili dog, please?"

*This will be the last time I pull anything from Sonic 2 for a long while, I swear folks.

Courtesy of OverClocked Remix comes a very smooth piano arrangement of Sonic 2's 'Above the Sky' theme (you know, the one you hear after defeating Dr.Robotnik's robot and destroying his space station) from ReMixer WillRock. Besides this take on 'Above the Sky' being really well done -- the entire piece isn't done on a real piano, but from the sounds of it you'd hardly know if you weren't told about that neat little fact. Enjoy!
